so far, one long day of use: excellent review by mountain birder on 2/11/2014

Our bird club used four of these (two sets) on a field trip, to communicate among four cars that were fairly close together in open country. They were great for this purpose: easy for anybody to understand and use, with excellent transmission quality. They seem good and sturdy. I give them four stars instead of five only because we haven't had them long enough to know how they'll hold up. I've never used two-way radios before, but those that had found them very satisfactory.
Hard to use, would not buy again. review by FCC licensed on 10/22/2013

We needed 2-way radio communication between floors of our museum. This model is hard to use/train others on it. No volume control, just buttons. No off/on switch, just buttons. Difficult to change channels, etc. Hard to train others because of the non-intuitive operations.
MC220R replacement review by Management on 9/9/2013

I bought these to add to my inventory as they were advertised as the replacement for the MC220R. At first I was told by my staff that these radios were not compatable. After an internet chat I discovered that my existing radios were set for privacy. These radios do not have that option. There was no place in the book telling me this. Once I reset the menu to no privacy settings, they started talking to each other. These work OK, are not as loud as the MC series, but, will function for what we need them for. I would recommend but they are not as good as the MC220R.
Terrible Radios review by RogerThat on 9/29/2012

The radio's say they have up to a 20 mile distance in good conditions. I took them out into the country on a road trip across Michigan in the middle of nowhere, and the best we got was around 1 mile. After that, you can barely hear the other person from the static. After 1.5 miles, there's no reception. I assumed these would be a good buy for the price, knowing that i probably wouldn't get the displayed range, I had thought I'd get at least half or 25%. But not even 5 miles on these things, or even half of that. Long story short, you get what you paid for. False advertising by a mile, or 20 (pun intended). However, past models of Motorola cheap radios have outperformed these new ones.

We needed some quick communications for a huge festival that we are putting together and needed something easy to use, fast to learn, and ready to provide us with at least eight hours of coverage. I am sure we have the right thing!
