I bought a lot of receivers and throw them after a cup of years. This one is expensive but the best of the best: very clear sound, no parasites and reliable for long range (5 miles) in the mountain.

  2. Not the 7 Miles but still AWESOME review by Rinkoperator on 10/30/2011

This radio states a 7 mile radius. I am working on an island with no other transmitters to interfear with our signals. The terrain is flat and few structures are around. THe best I can get is 3 miles absolutly clear communication, and 4 with scratching background. Regardless of this I would still recommend this unit to anyone looking for replacements, or a new set.

I'm using this radio for bike-to-bike communications on my motorcycle. It is a great radio as it interfaces perfectly with standard communication systems, it can be custom programmed for a variety of frequencies (including GMRS),it will accept a PTT (push to talk button), and it will accept an external antenna mount so the radio can be stored in my cases. I also purchased a battery pack that is constantly charged from my bike power, so no more dead batteries!!

  6. Kenwood TK 3302-U16P Review review by Scott on 11/15/2010

After years of buying blister pack radios for use during hunting season that lasted a season or two, we bought the commerical Kenwood radios. They are certainly more expensive than department store two-ways but well worth it. We typically hunt in heavy woods with rolling steep hills and both the power and clarity of these radios is excellent. While we typically don't use these radios on distances over one mile, when testing them we found in less than ideal conditions we can still get 4 to 5 miles out of them. As far as durability, we'll see how long these radios last. We didn't have much luck with the blister pack radios and we certainly take good care of them, we do hunt in cold, rain and or snow. I am hopefully however that these radios will certainly provide several years of service but they need to get a season or two of use to be sure. The only complaint I have is that I wasted all kinds of money on cheap radios when I would have been better off buying commerical radios years ago. I fully recommend these radios for any use on hunting, hiking or camping trips.
