  1. Looks Good review by Richard on 3/26/2012

These are an improvement over the GXT600s we had in that the range is better and the volume is higher. The only real con is the charger works only with 110 volts, which means you have to take a converter when traveling to another country.

  2. Good rang review by john on 3/16/2012

Used it several times. range inside the city is mostly about 0.75 mile radius when the 2 radios are at street level with no line of sight (all houses in the city are made of concrete and bricks). one time we were at the same street hearing crystal clear like we are near each other, we were 0.9 mile a part (no line of sight) looks like it could work much further at that condition. In a test I got 2.06 miles (2 radios at ground level) when ~0.5 of a mile are city buildings and the rest 1.5 miles are nature (open nearly flat terrain). getting far from that point and comunication was lost. One time we used it in hiking and got excellent reception. 1 radio in a narrow canyon when 3 side are surrounded by ~80-100 meters high mountains. the other radio was way outside the canyon near a lake (no line of sight). the distance was 3.4 miles and we could hear each other very good

  4. Pretty good Parade Radios! review by Mayfair on 12/4/2011
    Rating

We bought 7 sets of these radios based on a recommendation from Rob of Buy Two Way for use in a parade that we put on every year in Philly, and they worked really well! We initially bought another set of radios (Motorola) and they wouldn't make it more than 1/2 a mile if that. These radios worked MUCH better and covered almost the entire route (the parade is approx 2 miles long). They worked great if everything is within a line of sight (a straight line), however once someone turned a corner behind a building at the end of the route or over a hill, the signal was lost. The volume was a bit low once the parade was underway, however I wouldn't call this a flaw as the parade is kind of noisy. I'm just pointing it out in case someone wants to use them in a similar atmosphere where surrounding noise is loud (racetrack, football game, etc). The "Call Signal" helped a lot with this problem as it alerted everyone that someone is trying to get their attention and to "listen up" - ha ha! We were also able to easily connect them to the one set Motorola radios that we kept because we had already opened the package. We are amateurs and it took us a minute to figure out the "sub channel" thing, but once we did, we were fine - no problems. I personally didn't care for the headsets, however a couple of the girls in our group liked them. Overall I would definitely recommend them, however we've learned out lesson ... The range that is posted on these radios (ALL of them - not just these) is nowhere near the actual range that you are going to get. In the city, you can expect to get about 1-2 miles tops in a straight line.

Use the radios on Survey crew. Work well on construction and boundary sites. Have been dropped many times and still hold up.
