The Motorola RMM2050 MURS two way radio has 5 channels and 2 watts of power. It comes standard with support for all five license free MURS frequencies. The RMM2050 is the successor to the Motorola RDX Series RDM2020 and RDM2080d radios. No license is required!

The RMM2050 is a breeze to use. Two programmable buttons give you fast access to features. The Motorola RMU2080 radio also has Channel Announcement with Voice Alias, 3 audible call tones, channel scan, hands-free VOX mode (with optional accessories), voice scrambling, and more. Cloning the RMM2050 is easy with an optional single-unit charger cloning cable or multi-unit charger (sold separately).

The Motorola RMM2050 operates on VHF Multi-Use Radio Service (MURS) frequencies. MURS frequencies do not require a license and are approved for use by individuals as well as businesses! The RMM2050 supports all five MURS VHF frequencies and each one is programmed into the radio by default. MURS 154.570 (channel 1) and 154.600 (channel 2) are two of the most common frequencies used by many older VHF radios such as the Kenwood TK-2200 and Motorola XTN XV1100, XTN XV2100, and XTN VX2600 series radios.

The Motorola RMM2050 MURS radio boasts exceptional audio quality along with industrial design and performance. As with the other RM Series radios, the RMM2050 also includes Antimicrobial Protection.

I bought these radios with grant money for our animal rescue. They are perfect for coordinating the search and rescue of a lost domestic animal in our wilderness. The price is right, the MURS freqs and coded feature make for a quiet radio, the radios are tough and easy to use, and I have had good success with battery life so far. As far as range is concerned, don't fool yourself. If you understand the simple concept of line-of-site then you won't be disappointed with this radio. If you are expecting it to talk through or over mountains then you're asking too much of a simplex radio system. Google "radio wave propagation and polarization concepts", study, learn and don't make snap decisions based on manufacturer's wild claims that can't possibly overcome end-user silliness. Learn how radio works before you buy one.

Let me be the first one to say that this is a great radio, I received this radio 10-21-2015. I purchased this radio because some times their are a lot of people on there FRS/GMRS bubble pack radios and their are a lot of people that overlap on each other, most of the time kids are playing with their radios, that all they do is hit the call tone button and walk on top of each other so I purchased this radio to get a way from all the noise, Not a lot of people know about MURS so not a lot of people will be on the MURS frequencies, I'm also thinking of using MURS as an back up radio.
