They both have 8 channels, a 4 watt front mount speaker and large knobs and buttons. They also have built-in 2-Tone, 5-Tone, CTCSS and DTCS capabilities and up to ten 2-tone and eight 5-tone codes can be decoded on a channel.
The Icom IC-F221S is a 440-490 MHz UHF radio with 45 watts of power.
The Icom IC-F121S is a 136-174 MHz VHF radio with 50 watts of power.
