President Electronics has officially launched the new Randy III FCC AM/FM handheld CB radio, a nice upgrade to one of their more popular portable CB radios. Building on the legacy of the Randy II, this new model brings several refinements in functionality, giving CB users even more flexibility when communicating on the road, at camp, or in the field.
The Randy III keeps the same compact, durable design that made its predecessor popular. It delivers 40 CB channels, NOAA Weather reception, and Weather Alert warnings in the same lightweight, palm-sized body. Familiar controls such as ASC (Automatic Squelch Control), manual squelch, Dual Watch, VOX hands-free operation, NB/ANL and Hi-Cut filters, Scan with Skip, two programmable EMG channels, and conveniences like key beep, roger beep, key lock, flashlight, and ECO mode all carry over unchanged.
The Randy III also keeps the bright, seven-color LCD display. It's easy to read indoors or out and customizable to your preference. Power output stays at 4 watts, with 1 watt audio, consistent current draw, and identical size and weight to the previous model, meaning accessories and gear still fit perfectly.
So what's new with the RANDY III? Primarily two features, P-Channels and NRC.
P-Channels give the user a small bank of programmable private-channel memories, separate from the standard 40 CB channels. Each P-Channel can store a preferred frequency and its associated settings such as AM/FM mode, power level, tone code, and squelch. This allows quick recall of frequently used setups. It's ideal for switching between workgroups, trail convoys, or a base channel without losing your main CB configuration.
Second, in addition to the Noise Gate and other processing features, the Randy III now has The NRC, or Noise Reduction Circuit. It processes incoming audio digitally to suppress background hiss and static. Unlike the analog NB/ANL filters that cut ignition or impulse noise, NRC targets continuous broadband noise to produce clearer, smoother voice audio, especially in FM mode or when signals are weak. It can be toggled directly from the front panel (using the MON/NRC key) and works alongside the existing filters and Noise Gate for an even cleaner receive experience that help reduce background noise for cleaner communication.
These two additions, programmable P-Channels and digital NRC, are what truly differentiate the Randy III from the Randy II, rounding out its already full feature set while maintaining the same size, power, and familiar control layout.
There is one more difference that sets the Randy III apart from the Randy II, and that is what is included in the package. In addition to the usual items, the Randy III now includes two additional accessories. These are the Desktop Dock and a NEW Vehicle Charging Module with an SO-239 (UHF-Female) antenna adapter.
The Randy III doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel—it, refines it. You get the same compact form factor, the same full-featured control layout, and the same dependable performance, with the flexibility of both AM and FM built in. What is does add is P-channels and better noise reduction, with a desktop charger and NEW Vehicle Charging Module / Antenna Adapter thrown in for added convenience. For anyone who liked the Randy II and wants to join the growing FM CB conversation, the Randy III is the natural next step. The Randy III is in stock and available now from Buy Two Way Radios. Price: $179.00.
