The WASHINGTON 100W provides more than just extra power. It includes President's Automatic Power Management (APM) system. Rather than relying solely on passive cooling, APM continuously monitors the internal temperature of the radio and automatically manages output power when needed to help protect the transmitter during extended operating sessions. If you want even more cooling, optional fans are available that can be added to the rear of the unit and configured to start automatically at a user-selected temperature.
President also retained the features that made the original WASHINGTON such a capable mobile transceiver. Automatic Relay, repeater split, selectable RF Power, RF Gain and Mic Gain controls, CTCSS/DCS, Dual Watch, scan functions, four programmable memory channels, VOX, NRC noise reduction, ANL, NB and Hi-Cut filtering, Talkback, Channel Skip, Scan Skip, Echo Level, Echo Delay, Public Address capability, and a customizable 7 color display are all included. The new model also adds the ability to enable or disable the Up and Down buttons on the electret hand microphone, giving operators additional control over how the radio is used.
The original WASHINGTON offered an impressive collection of operating features. The new WASHINGTON 100W builds on that foundation with higher transmit power and improved thermal management while maintaining the familiar interface and functionality amateur radio operators expect.
