The Cobra 29 WX NW ST is part of Cobra’s night watch series, which means the entire front control panel can be illuminated. This makes it perfect for nighttime driving. The Cobra 29 WXNWST’s is also a weather radio, allowing you to monitor 7 NOAA weather channels. Other features include a switchable ANL noise blanker, public address (PA) capability, instant channel 9/19, and Cobra's Dynamike microphone booster.
The Cobra 29 WXNWST also features a dimmer control that allows you to set the brightness of the illuminated night watch control panel to just the right setting. Like many Cobra CB radios, it has tactile control features, so you can adjust them even when you can’t take your eyes off the road. Best Professional Radio review by Catfish (Licensed Ham and Trucker) on 8/19/2013I have been a licensed amateur radio operator for 15 years and have used radios capable of communicating over seas and over long distances reliably. I am also a professional truck driver with 10 years experience on the road. Anyone who understands the frequencies and mode (AM) used by CB radios (the HF spectrum) will know that no CB is intended for long range communications (other than sporadic "DX" over long distances which are enjoyable for radio enthusiasts but not considered reliable for long distance). CB Radios are primarily line of sight and they are excellent for travelers. I currently use this model in my personal vehicle and a Cobra 25 LTD Classic in my semi truck. All of the professional Cobra radios are rugged and designed for the long haul. This CB's NB and ANL can eliminate the worst electrical interference that any installation can throw at it. They are also the most rugged radios on the road. I have Cobras installed in some of our trucks that are over 20 years old and working like new. If you need reliable long distance communications, you should be looking at VHF radios using FM mode. If you want to be an informed traveler or you drive professionally, the Cobra 25 and 29 models are all exceptional radios. If you are a young driver trying to look "cool" and beef up your truck with a CB and antennas...this radio is the best choice. The nightwatch addition to this classic really looks great in pickups and semi trucks alike. You can't beat a Cobra. *Regardless of the reason you are installing a CB...fun, travel, or just emergencies...spend the extra money and get the 25 or 29 models. Lower priced models sometimes lack the ability to block electrical noise which all vehicles produce. The noise can be overwhelming and render your radio useless. Get the choice of professional drivers and get the best. Cobra 25 or 29 series. Stop at any truck stop and ask the drivers what's in their truck...99 percent will say some version of the Cobra 29. This model of the 29 just happens to be my favorite. If you are ever on I-40 in Tennessee and hear "Catfish" on Ch. 19 give me a shout and hear what this Cobra can do! Happy CBing
