I tested these in the suburbs, with the other person indoors, and the signal started to get a little scratchy at about 1/3 of a mile. Then I got tired of walking. I expect the signal would have been copyable at more than half a mile.

I have not tested the dust or water resistance, and I have not owned the radios long enough to comment on their durability, though they do feel reasonably solid.

At $40 for a pair, plus the podcast listener discount, this model was much cheaper here than any place else I could find it.

At about 800 mW (out of a legal maximum of 2,000 mW) on channels 1-7 and 15-22, based on the test report on the FCC website, these seem stronger then other radios I can find for $40 a pair.

I do wish manufacturers and vendors would just list the power output, but I appreciate buytwowayradios.com listing the FCC ID so I can look up the details.

Weather radio reception and weather alerts work fine for me. I also discovered an undocumented feature. if you have weather alerts enabled, and the radio is off but plugged in for charging, it will still turn on for a weather alert.

Overall, I am satisfied. After testing, I purchased several as gifts for children in my family.

I ordered these quite a while ago. Still no sign of them. Still no tracking info. I have followed up with the company. Still no response from them. I guess I’ll just have to demand a refund and go elsewhere.

I apologize for leaving a less than thrilling review a couple weeks ago. this company's customer service is excellent. the local post office messed up the whole thing (they often do). i had a replacement in 48 hours.
