The A16B is equipped with Bluetooth®, a backlit LCD display and a backlit DTMF keypad for night time operation. It features 200 memory channels and 10 memory banks, weather channels and a dedicated 121.5MHz emergency key. The side tone feature lets you hear your own voice through an external aviation headset.

The Icom IC-A16B also uses the Auto Noise Limiter (ANL) found on other Icom airband radios for noise reduction. Other features include scan function, internal VOX capability, adjustable microphone gain setting, low battery indicator, and low battery beep alert.
