Icom IC-A14 VHF Air Band Radio with Keypad

The Icom IC-A14 Air Band Radio is a great choice for the student pilot. It is a compact, yet powerful radio designed for use in cabins and tarmacs with high levels of noise. The IC-A14 is equipped with a BTL amplifier that doubles the audio output and a 700mW internal speaker to belt it out to ensure you can hear loud and clear.

The A14 has a full keypad that is well-labeled and an alphanumeric text display. The keypad and display are backlit and the light stays on until you turn it off so you can operate it while flying at night.

The IC-A14 features 200 memory channels (20 Ch × 10 banks) with 8 character names, NOAA marine weather channels and a dedicated 121.5MHz emergency button. The IC A14 also receives NAV channels and allows duplex operation so you can contact a flight service station while you simultaneousely receive a VOR station. The side tone feature lets you hear your own voice through an external aviation headset. The A14 is also IPX4 water resistant and meets equivalent MIL-STD-810-C, D, E and F specifications.

The Icom IC-A14 airband radio also has an Auto Noise Limiter (ANL) for noise reduction, tag scanning, memory scan, a time out timer and low battery indicatior. It can be powered with the included Lithium-ion battery pack, or 6 AA alkaline batteries (requires optional alkaline battery case). The included drop-in battery charger is designed to hold the radio securely while charging, even when the ride gets rough.
