Details

The Midland MXT400 MicroMobile™ GMRS 2-Way Radio is the most powerful and versatile transceiver designed exclusively for use on the GMRS! The MXT400 combines a full 40 watts of powerful communication with the option to add your choice of external antenna for maximum range and the ultimate GMRS experience!

The MXT400 features 15 GMRS channels and 142 privacy codes for full access to all available frequencies on the General Mobile Radio Service plus 8 repeater channels. It's compatible with all GMRS handheld radios using the same channels and privacy code, so if you already have some, the MXT 400 will fit right in.

The Midland MXT 400 includes important features found on many popular mobile radios, including voice compander, channel scan, manual squelch, monitor mode, call alert function, key tones, and keypad lock. It also has digital volume control and silent operation to mute beeps and tones when you need a little quiet time while driving on the road.

The MXT400 is easy to mount. The flip-frame detachable mount installs on or under your dash and allows you to quickly remove the radio from its bracket by simply and easily sliding it out.

The MXT400 has a backlit LCD display for a clear, bright view day or night and a large internal speaker built right into the chassis for clear, crisp communications under noisy road conditions. Need an external speaker? No problem. There's a handy 3.5mm external audio jack in the back. The MXT400 also comes equipped with a high grade hand microphone connected to a coiled cord.

The Midland MXT400 includes hand microphone, mic holder, vehicle mount with hardware, 12V vehicle hard wire power cord, owner's manual and a one year warranty from Midland.

  1. I like it very much review by Rubber Duck on 5/22/2023

I am in a group with 12 men who all look out for each other in a part of the world that can get a bit druggy. Great mobile communication is a must. The neighborhood is in the forest with 100' tall pine trees and they can all hear me 5x5. They will be getting the same radios.

  2. Not a great radio. review by Jimmy on 3/17/2022

Not a great radio. Doesn’t have wide band. Doesn’t have a Roger beep. Get the Wouxun 50 watt. It has everything you need.

  3. Very good review by philinaz on 8/28/2021

After sifting through reviews on this and hearing that it "doesn't do this and it can't do that..." and so on. I just looked at what it can do. It's 40w out, clear sound, large display, easy to use, it has a limited menu but with all the essentials I need. So I decided it was the one for me.
I've been a HAM for 40 years and don't need the same level of sophistication my HAM rigs have with this GMRS rig. There's is nothing wrong with those that want all the bells and whistles but I didn't need them. And the price was right too. Nice rig.

  4. Simply works review by Adam on 5/28/2021

I am a beginner in radio land and this radio is simple and intuitive to use. Would be cool to have more features but that would certainly complicate things...i still havent figured out its full capabilities but I am learning. Havent had any issues yet. I have it set up as a home base at the moment so I had to also buy an ac to dc power converter but it works great, no complaints!

  5. Great product, Great service review by Tikatim on 5/11/2021

Easy ordering, super fast shipping and an outstanding product. Easy to install, easy to operate, amazing range with a 6db gain Midland mobile antenna on my truck. Easily hit another MXT400 at 35 miles over hilly tree covered terrain.

  6. Awesome product and insanely fast shipping! review by Chris J on 2/1/2021

This radio and the range of it are absolutely phenomenal. Even better is that these guys shipped it the next day and shipping was insanely fast.

  8. good radio review by deedeee on 12/9/2018

Nice radio the only two negative resins is
The radio has ctss there is no way to send
a pl without decode which means if the repeater
does not put out a pl you will not hear it.
the other resins is that I do not like the compander
because the audio is a lot hard for me to
understand the audio sounds unclear .
other than that I think it is a very nice
radio and I like it a lot!!

  13. Very happy with entire experience. review by Mike on 8/24/2017

The MXT400 is a good little radio and very easy to master. You do however need to tweak what antenna, cables and such that you use for your particular needs(IMPORTANT) and area.It is not a done deal by just plugging the radio in .But once you get that clear long connection you will be very happy.

  14. Up Grade of my Emergency Communcation Equipment. review by fireeater17209 on 6/29/2017
    Rating

I have replaced my CB Radio with Midland MXT400 for my emergency equipment. Now to work on getting my FCC license. Being retired from the fire dept and working with other town/towns depts.. Going from 5 watts to 40 watts will be a big help and be able to check in with hams operators.

  15. Excellent Radio system, all of the simplex and duplex freq. review by Dennie on 4/19/2017
    Rating

Use in hunting, shooting, photography, and boating to keep in touch where there is no cell coverage. Tactical shooting matches to stay in touch with range officers. We have two of these radios along with three Motorola 25 watt mobile radios which cost $600 each, and three Motorola 5 watt portables at another $500 each. Wish Midland would come out with a 5 watt portable to use with the mobile units.
