The Motorola MS350R is a high performance radio at a great price! This durable, full featured two way radio is made for the great outdoors, and is built to work in rough weather or extreme environmental conditions. It is JIS7 waterproof - meaning it can tolerate being submersed - and it even floats! The Talkabout MS350R is also powerful, providing up to 35 miles of range in ideal conditions (typically up to 2 miles in urban conditions).
With 22 channels, 8 repeater channels and 121 privacy codes, the MS350R gives you the communication flexibility you need. Additional features, such as the Quiet Talk filter, 11 Weather Channels (7 NOAA), ten Call Tones, and hands-free iVox functionality give you a radio that's ready to go camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, or almost anywhere else you want to take it when you travel outdoors.
The MS350R also offers Motorola's VibraCall® vibrating alert, a built-in LED flashlight, and operates on either a rechargeable NiMH battery pack (included) or AA Alkaline batteries, making it a truly versatile two way radio.
The Motorola MS350R comes ready to go with two radios, a two pocket desktop charger and two NiMH rechargeable battery packs.

Excellent canoeing trip radios. review by Tony the Scout Leader on 8/2/2016

I purchased these for additional safety on an 85 mile Boy Scout canoe trip down the Manistee River in Michigan - one went in the lead canoe and one in the rear canoe. On the winding, twisting river we were frequently out of site of the lead boat, with several canoes in between. Being able to communicate with the lead boat when we had a mishap, or someone needed to stop was terrific. Reception was very clear except when we were the better part of a mile apart, separated by high bluffs, but we could still talk. They are definitely waterproof, as they sat in the rain for 4 hours on day one. The loop is essential; it allowed us to clip them to short cords to keep them from getting lost but still be handy. The built-in flashlight also came in handy a time or two. And, on top of everything, the weather channel let us know when we needed to hunker down before a storm rolled through. Finally, battery life was decent - we only had to replace them once on a 6-day trip.

Bought these radios for casual use. They work great! My only complaint to date would be establishing a secure/encrypted channel. It's a little difficult to set up. A number pad with a pin would shore that up nicely. Any way, I'm glad I bought them and would easily buy them again.

Best Talkabout for outdoors enthusiasts! review by DD on 8/31/2011

We've been using Motorola "bubble pack" Talkabouts for years for camping, skiing, and other outdoor adventures. After a while, the elements take their toll, especially wet conditions. Now finally with these MS350R's, thats a worry in the past. The quality of these are much better than the cheaper Talkabouts, and we LOVE the built in LED flashlight on the bottom. The range seems ok, obviously not true 35 miles as the package claims, but on the more powerful channels using the high power transmit button (this model has 2 different transmit buttons), we are experiencing decent range of almost 3 to 4 miles in wooded conditions. No need to be any further apart in the wild in my opinion. We love that they float too. Although a little bigger than the small Talkabouts, and a much larger antenna, you hardly even notice once you start using it. The NOAA radio feature is great. The only thing these are missing is some type of built in emergency whistle to blow in case of trouble. A great value and a lot to offer in a pair of outdoor submersible weather proof handhelds for under $90.
Motorola radios are just simply the best review by dozersrfwattage[@] on 8/8/2011

I mean if motorola would just state this radio will cover 35 miles, than they should transmit and receive 35 miles with no exceptions and if there are exceptions than [*] it just be up front and state it right on the front of the packaging. Then motorola would not have to listen to every one complain about there radios not covering the distance they BOLDLY State and spec. Not to meation the lost and cost of product return by the consumer they must surely and greatly indure every time they put a new model on the market. It's seems so silly and simple of a solution i don't beleave any one has thought of this over at the great Motorola Corp. Come on Motorola, 100% honesty would make your company hundreds of millions of dollars more in profits just by being the first comunications corp.in the world to take this step. Thers just no way any body eles dosent feel this way to some degree. PLEASE tell me!
