  1. Call boxes for vhf/uhf: review by Adam-12 on 3/9/2012
    Rating

    1. good to make contact w/other radios, however, as I mentioned it is good for campgrounds (interier meaning buildings). However, each building should have it's own channel w/the main base, w/ both buildings being able to be contacted @ the same time. 2. Should the call boxes be outside, like @ the gate the call box should be able to be accessable via an external microphone(Combinationj speaker mike, w/long enough cord, so that the person using it, can still roll up his/her window, in-stead of a p-t-t button, especially in extreem weather(RE: Heavy rains, snow, hail, ect.), and both the external mike, and, the front of the box itself, should be protected from the weather. 2(a) Another Idea, is this, in the event that this type of box has been built, in ref- to the external mikes, there should be special mike jacks put in front to be used w/any brand of external speaker mike that is used today. Anything from the 2-pin realistic, to the Motorlla screw in mike to a portable, to an Icom, General electric, to a Kenwood, ect). Jacks should be provided for this purpose Also jacks should be provided for the regular hand mikes as well, that come off of mobile/base units as well, depending on the type of unit that U're using @ the present time. This is just an Idea, should U wanna make Ur call boxes bigger, to enhance what I've mentioned. If I was to buy any of the call boxes on this site, I personally would modify them, in this manner, so that it'll be easier for ppl to use them, and, not, be damaged/injured by the weather.
