Yes. This radio is fully compatible with all 22 channel FRS, GMRS, or FRS/GMRS combo radios.

While there are many other GMRS radios on the market today, this radio is specifically designed with both novice and power users in mind. It has many advancedl features, yet is easy for anyone to pick up and use right out of the box without the need for complicated programming. It is
more durable, is higher wattage, is equipped with a more powerful battery and has better audio quality than typical consumer radios. It is also IP55 dust and water resistant, meaning that it's built like a business radio.
It also has advanced features that would usually appeal more to "power users," such as repeater support
and the ability to use PC programming software to customize the channels list.
Yes, if you use the programming software (available from the Downloads tab). The KG-S65G supports up to 400 custom channels, and with the software you can add new channels or even remove standard ones. The CTCSS/DCS tones can be customized for each channel and can be different for transmit and receive.
Extra channels are useful for many reasons. If you access different repeaters that use the same frequency but different tones, it's more convenient to add each combination to its own channel instead of changing tones through the menu. Channels can also be given friendly names instead of a simple number, and the default channel names can be customized.

The KG-S65G is designed for maximum cross-compatibility with other Wouxun branded GMRS radios.It uses the same battery and drop-in charger as the other models in the S-Series, such as the KG-S88G. It uses the same antenna connector as other Wouxun GMRS radios, and there are multiple antenna options available. It also uses the same 2-pin Kenwood style (K1) audio connector found on many other radios, so headsets, speaker mics and other audio accessories are no problem at all.
Yes. Even though this radio is fully compatible with license free FRS radios, it has several features that make it fall under
the GMRS service and not FRS. Some of these features are: 5 watts of power (FRS limit is 2), removable antenna (FRS must be fixed),

Great radio with awesome reception
I got mine in yellow! This is a very good radio. Wouxun hit the park with it. Great performer. Very simple to use. The features are to the point. Not overwhelming but enough to control the radio and customize it to the needs of the user. It is of a small size, which I like. It is a simple radio that does a good job on what it is intended to do. I would definitely buy another if need!
Disappointed
This radio is just average. I love the size, form factor, and the build quality is decent and it receives OK. But that’s about where things end for me. I have a number of issues with mine:
1. This is advertised as a 5W radio yet I get numerous comments whilst talking on my local repeaters and simplex about over modulation, distortion and sizzling static. Yes I have the transmit power on high. Unfortunately there is no audio gain settings to compensate. Compared to my cheap 3W Baofengs which come in nice and clear and seem to perform better in almost every way.
2. The speaker is disappointing and distorts and resonates at volume levels past the half way mark.
3. You have to hold down the PTT and wait a second or two before talking or your first few words will get cutoff.
4. The antenna is short compared to all of my other HT radios which might explain the some of aforementioned issues.
5. You can tell the CPU used is slow because it can’t keep up with rapid rotation of channel knob. You have to go slow while changing channels.
Maybe I just got a dud but I’m probably just going to bite the return shipping and restock fee and send it back.

Very Pleased
I purchased three of these radios to use during farm field work. So far we are very pleased with them. Very simple to use, we have talked up to 4.5 miles without a repeater. Other instances, 1.5 miles has been a struggle. It just depends on where you are and what your surroundings may be. Very pleased with the audio quality, battery life, size of the radios, they seem to be well built. For the money, compared to other “well known brands” I feel they are a very good buy.

Mostly good
I bought this for my non-techie wife to keep in her vehicle. Good features with the simple channel selection, NOAA weather radio, and FM radio. Good price point, and I feel like I got my moneys worth. Not so good: scanning is pretty slow, screen goes completely off after a few seconds, so you don’t know what channel you’re on. You could be moved to the wrong channel and have no idea.
I’ll probably buy a Wouxen 905 next for my bag, to compare.

Fine, a bit overpriced
It works well enough for what I need, but I’m unsure about getting more for this usecase or finding something else for the team.
It’s a nice size and feels good to use, and I like the simplicity of the keypad. I replaced the stock antenna with a stubby since I don’t need much range; it fits in a pocket well. The tx and rx quality seems reasonable, but again, I’m using it over very short range more like a bubble pack FRS but with occasional monitoring of other frequencies like municipal, WX. It was easy to program using the PC and get the function keys the way I want, but annoying to have to buy a separate cable instead of using the USB-C connection.
The USB-C charging is handy, except it refuses to charge on some ports, particularly PD-capable ones like it’s unable to negotiate even the basic 5W with them.
Scanning is slow, and there is a noticeable lag when using the knob to change channel. Not really a problem since I only use it on a couple programmed frequencies, but surprising for the price.

Overall a good experience
I’m enjoying the KG-S65G. It’s pretty easy to navigate the menus to get the experience of use that best fits my needs. Durable feel. Sounds great. It’s smaller than others, which makes it easy to keep in my vehicle console if I need it quickly. I’m happy with it and definitely would recommend it.
Love it
I have the 805 g, the 905 g, and the KG 1000 Plus. Also have a couple Motorola's. I love this little 65 it's a great radio I talk on my repeater all the time which is 12 to 15 mi away. It's handy it's light it's durable, live through my grandson's playing with it! Like it better than the other handhelds I have. Far better than the Motorola's!
KGS-65G
Good little radios. I have two H3's and a Baofeng. This radio is about the same size as my H3 and a bit lighter. Easy to program from the radio itself. Good sound report with stock antenna from a mile and a half and 3 miles, simplex. I would buy them again. Received in about a week free shipping. Thanks buy two way radios!
Nice little radio
Was fairly simple to program with or without the software. Dont like that it does not have dual channel monitoring. Sound is clear and crisp upgraded to mellowave antenna and maked a big difference in reception.
