The Wouxun KG-UVR5 is based on the popular KG-UV920P-A with all the power, features and functions of the original at a more affordable price. With 40 watts UHF and 50 watts VHF, the KG-UVR5 provides the maximum power of a mobile two way radio at a minimal cost.

The KG-UVR5 operates on 144-148MHz VHF and 420-450MHz UHF frequencies in the amateur radio bands. Like the 920P, it features 999 programmable memory channels with CTCSS and DSC encode/decode, DTMF encoding/decoding, priority channel scanning, and twin band simultaneous reception. You can still set your bands freely for VHF TX-UHF RX or UHF TX-VHF RX. It also has the same power selectable options.

That's not all. the UV-R5 also has all the other features of the KG-UV920P, including Channel Name edit and display, 76-108Mhz FM radio, 1750Hz burst tone, group calls, 8 group scrambler, low voltage voice prompt, stun and kill function, reduced noise settings, remote control setting and the classic built-in cooling fan.

Of course, it wouldn't be the same without the full duplex cross-band and cross-band mobile repeater capability, and the UVR5 has it too! It has all five repeater settings - normal radio mode, directional cross-band repeater mode, two way cross band repeater mode, repeater receiving mode (receiver) or repeater transmitting mode (transmitter). Get two of these mobiles and set up your own repeater using the included 5m extension cable or the microphone connection cable. What's not to like about that?

It gets better. The KG-UVR5 uses the same 920 chassis, with dual speakers and the large, detachable dual frequency LCD display with a 3-color selectable backlight. Mount the display panel inside your vehicle where you like using the 20 extension cable, or simply keep it attached to the radio for full base station operation. It's your choice!

But there's still more. Like the 920P, the KG-UVR5 also includes the same handheld speaker mic as the 920P with backlit full featured keypad and voice prompts assist you with menu navigation.

The KG-UVR5 can also be powered by the optional Wouxun SPS31WIN Power Supply to turn your twin band mobile receiver into a fully operational base station!
