  9. Tytera TH-7800 Works just as I had hoped review by Mark G on 3/3/2018

I recently purchased at Tytera (TYT) TH-7800 to use in my car. I wanted a compact radio with a detachable faceplate so that I could avoid problems I had had placing a VHF transceiver in the car. There really aren't many 'good' locations to place a radio in my 'runabout' 2000 Echo, but I found I could mount the faceplate to a block of wood and slide it into the ash tray slot, which I didn't use. It's secure, with plenty of clearance with the shifter, and easy to see, especially since I beveled the mounting side of the block 15 degrees off vertical. I mounted the T/R unit in the trunk. The radio itself works great, and since I could program it with CHIRP, is easy to keep current. I have no complaints - a radio that works great, at a great price!

  10. This Radio Rocks. Get it review by Chappy on 2/20/2018

Great little radio. first time I used it, everybody could tell. Clean and clear TX and RX.... I had many people in my Ham club recommend this radio. For the money, you can't beat it. Get one for home and car... Also, I use this for ARES with the cross repeater setup, we can really cover a lot of ground on events. It works great.

Easy to operate and program, with the cable and software. Does a good job and did I say Easy to Operate? Compared to Kenwood D700, does a better job of CrossBanding. Much easier to setup for Xband. Lots of good features...

  17. I have bought two of these. review by K0GEH on 4/26/2017

I have one in my pick up and one in my shack. The one in my truck is on a magnet antenna I can hit repeaters 30+ miles away. In the shack I am on a dipole and can do the same. I only use the mid 2 part level. In the pick up I was about to reach a ham in an airplane about 300 miles away at 40,000ft. I was using high power for this. I recommend this radio whenever someone is looking for a good inexpensive radio. I will soon be using this camping as well.

  22. Waste of money review by Rick the disappointed on 11/23/2015

Not happy with the sound quality. I now use an external speaker. Menu is a pain so software is pretty much a must. Transmit power isn't what the box claims. If I had a time machine I would go back and stop myself from the purchase. Not worth the price I paid and I got it at a lower price than many other sellers. Seller was great and took care of me but product just sucks. Good for a beginner who is just getting into the hobby and get them on the air but be prepared to upgrade to be happy. I also hate that the programming cable attaches in the back near the speaker jack. When mounted on dash or under dash it makes it hard to get the cable in the port. Luckily I use mine as a base station.
