The General Class license is the second of three US Amateur Radio licenses. Upgrading to a General license allows greater privileges on the HF (also known as "short wave" bands. To upgrade your license to General Class, you will need to take the General Class test and you must already hold a Technician Class license or have recently passed the Technician license exam. After you pass the test, you will have access to all of the operating modes and most of the amateur radio spectrum below 30 MHz!
