The Icom FR5300/FR6300 series is the second generation of the original FR5000 series, with the same look as the 5000, but with a new CPU/FPGA platform. The CY-5300 and CY-6300 are analog and digital mixed-mode capable. While many repeaters can only work with analog or digital radios, the FR5300/FR6300 is able to work with both.

The FR5300/FR6300 is designed for system scalability. can be easily upgraded by installing an optional UC-FR5300 Network/controller board and software provided with a CF card. Depending on the communication density and coverage, your radio system can grow from a single site to a simulcast system using compatible IDAS radio terminals or multi-site trunking system to match your communication needs.

The FR5300/FR6300 is also configurable. It's available in UHF and VHF versions and can be customized to analog and NXDN™ conventional to NXDN™ conventional voting configurations, single site trunking, multi-site trunking, or NXDN™ conventional simulcast with the optional UC-FR5300 board and CF software cards. It has the internal space for installing a second RF unit. Two optional UR-FR5300/UR-FR6300 RF modules can be installed within the chassis and operated independently. LEDs on the front panel shows the status of both channels.

The FR5300/FR6300 has a 12-digit alphanumeric display, 5 programmable buttons, and 32 memory channels. An internal speaker allows you to use the repeater as a simple base station or to check repeater activity. The LCD shows a variety of information consisting of text and code.

The FR5300/FR6300 can also be connected to an IP network through the optional UC-FR5300 network/controller board for IP remote maintenance. PC programming and IP address setting can be made from a remote location. The SNMP traps and Syslog can be sent to a manager for remote monitoring. RC-FS10 remote communicator software works as a simple dispatch station to communicate with radio terminals through the repeater.
