Purchased this antenna for a Baofeng GT-3WP. The stock rubber duck was just "ok" on both RX and TX. This radio really "came alive" with the Nagoya. Noticeable differences in both TX range and audio quality on RX.

Tested between two BTech MURS V-1 handhelds. Using stock antenna, transmissions full of static at 1 mile (rolling terrain) impossible to understand. Using these Nagoyas, clarity was markedly improved, allowing 1.25 mile effective distance. Not world shattering, but a great improvement for the price.
Antenna works great ,good reception
I bought these for the THD74 Kenwood and Yaesu FT 60 radios. These antennas fit nicely and work far better than the stock antennas. They are also really nice looking on the radios and are not any longer than the OEM units making them less intrusive than the huge diamonds and other antennas that are several inches longer. Can’t go wrong for the price either. Highly recommend these antennas.
I received the real deal and it is a noticable difference. I am new to this so no testing just that transmissions areally noticeably more clear. Would and probably am going to buy again.
I was looking for a flexible antenna for my Yaesu VX7R that would stand up to the abuse of being in my backpack, pockets etc. The stock antenna was too rigid. The Nagoya NA701 has been great. Performance is the same or better than stock antenna with way better flexibility in pack and pockets while in the field.
I bought this antenna for my Yaesu FT-60R HT. The stock antenna had a miserable SWR of 3.0 on both 2m and 70cm bands. I could even receive the powerful weather channel that I can get no problem on my Beofengs with stock antennas. I purchased this and installed it and viola, I can get the weather channel clearly as well as many local repeaters. I haven't checked the SWR yet with my analyzer but I am sure it is much improved over the stock rubber duck. It does sit a little higher on the SMA antenna mount but comes with a rubber washer that helps but doesn't completely seat it. I don't see that as a major issue, though. I would buy this antenna again. The price is fair for what you get.
I bought 4 of them. They work excellent on our four Yaesu radios (2 FT60s and FT2DRs). They perform very well, are well made, and considerably less expensive than similar sized antennas from other manufacturers. We have used them on simplex for a few public service events; also on our ARES repeater - worked very well. Not much longer than stock antenna, but performs far better.
I purchased three, two for a couple Baofeng UV-5R and one for a Kenwood 2m only HT. I can now hit my local repeaters will no problems using the Baofeng HT's. The Kenwood antenna was in very poor shape and I like the flexibility and gain these antennas have for the price. I would recommend this antenna to others! W4JL Dave NC 73
I use this antenna on a Uniden BCD-436HP handheld scanner. I found a noticeable receive performance improvement over the stock antenna. It is also short enough that it isn't annoying when carrying the scanner.
I bought these antennas for several Baofeng UV-5R radios that I own. They work much better than the stock short rounded tip rubber duck antennas that these radios normally ship with. However, not a significant improvement over the Baofeng high gain V-85 antenna which is a very good dual band rubber duck. They appear to be the real deal high quality Nagoya and not a clone. I can recommend these from this company.
This antenna is a good compromise between size and performance. There is a noticeable performance gain over the standard 4.5" UV5R antenna. It is also very flexible too making it harder to damage it or the radio from catching the antenna on something. However, I also own the Diamond SRJ77CA antenna, and it performs noticeably better than this antenna.
got this for my ft270r Yeasu. The sma male is a little snug for the waterproof ring on the antenna's base. Minor pet peav...
Good, cheap antenna. very flexible and not to long. Got 3 miles out of two identical setups and as far as 6 to 7 miles in around the truman lake area. Never used the stock antenna so I can't compare with it.
Sent back. Don't fit tight to radio and will allow water into connection.
doesn't fasten flush to top of radio
Use this on my UV-5R and it is outstanding! Works MUCH better than the stock antenna, I bought this antenna along with a UV-5R with a $50 gift card that I found in the bottom of a box, had no problems with ordering, great people, great antenna!
The Nagoya NA-701 is,at best just a fair replacement antenna to the one the comes with the Baofeng BF-F8+
I have several of these and find they are a big improvement over the stock antennas that come on many HTs. Very flexible with both good transmit and receive performance.
Used it both 2M & 70CM bands. Range was great. Used on my Wouxun KG-UV3D-2/UHF Radio. Used it for reporting times on an off road rally in the mountains of Idaho. I didn't find any thing not to like about it.
I had heard good things about this antenna so I decided to try one. I had to trim the bottom so it would fit my Pofung GT-5. It wouldn't fit down into the antenna cavity. Not a big deal to do. It took about fifteen minutes with a sharp pocket knife and a nail file. Signal reports have been good, so I'm pleased with this antenna.
I wanted a more flexible antenna for my VX-7R than the factory shipped one. This is twice as flexible and still gets a good signal. It shipped very quickly even on a holiday eve.
This antenna is very poor quality. It's better than the OEM antenna but not much. The lower portion or base of the antenna is plastic and has no recess that accommodates the fitting. So instead of seating on top of the radio it stands off of it. Looks ridiculous and leaves room for water to penetrate the fitting!
Well made, attractive, and good performance.
Nice antenna, much better than the one supplied with the radio. Thank you to Buy Two Way Radios for the easy buying process and great customer service!
This site offer the best price and you know you are getting the real deal and not a knock off.
Using on a Baofeng UV-5E V2+. Live in an area where many repeaters are about 12 - 15 miles away. Was hoping this antenna would help me out. Swapped between stock antenna and this one and can see/hear no noticeable difference. It is well constructed and flexible unlike the much stiffer stock antenna so I think this will be easier on the radio connector.
My first review was based on a misunderstanding of how the antenna is to be installed. Danny contacted me and explained how the antenna was designed. After reinstalling, the handhelds reception improved tremendously.
The antenna was included in the Baofeng UV-5R Essentials Accessory Kit. Beware when buying the kit, the antenna will not fit the UV-5RB model.
