Over rated.
Doesn't perform any better than a UV-B5 Antenna on a UV-5R.
Definitely better than stock antenna
I use it on Baofeng UV-5R+ & I can access a repeater full quieting that I could not access with the stock antenna.
Awesome Antenna
This antenna improves the overall performance of any dualband 2m/10cm portable HAM HT or police scanner guaranteed. I am very happy with the product as it is an original Japanese quality product built to quality Japanese standards.
Works as advertised
I put this antenna on my Baofeng UV-5RA before I was licensed to transmit, so I can't compare it with the rubber ducky that came with the radio except to say that RX seemed better with the Nagoya. On that radio I can reach a repeater some 60 miles away. That speaks for the radio and the antenna. There seem to be many knock-oofs out there; I think this is genuine.
Save your money
I've used this antenna on a Wouxun UVD1P and a Baofeng UV-82. I've tried it in my basement, I've tried it outdoors working both near and distant repeaters, and I noticed absolutely no improvement over the stock antennas on these two radios. I spent several hours working with this antenna, switching back and forth with the stock antennas. I really wanted to like it, but there is just no reason to buy this antenna if you have either of the two radios I have.
Beats the heck out of the stock Alinco rubber-duck antenna!
