It works
The back of the case is a little hard to get off, but not imposible. It serves the purpose very well. Good product.
Works great
Exactly what was expected. Fits well. First time inserting batteries was a bit concerning because I did not want to break the back of. It kinda snaps off and securely snaps back on. Nice product. Works and fits well.
Handy
It always pays to have an alternate source of power available. Will keep this around with a set of AA rechargeables just in case.
Needed accessory
Always good to have a way to power a 2-way radio, especially one used for emergencies, with replaceable batteries. This does the trick.
Meh
Its inexpensive so cant complain much. Little flimsy compared to the radio. It comes with no indication on how to open it. In the pic above you'll see a little tab on the thin portion. You dig your fingernail into the back near the top and gently little out on that tab. It has two tiny feet that lock in on the bottom of the thin piece that need to lock in first than snap the top back into place.
Good Secondary Power Source
Accepts 5 AA batteries. Brings radio up to full power (all bars). As other reviewers have stated snaps in place tightly. Does everything expected. A good value. I purchased two (one for each radio and one 12 car adaptor).
Good Item for ARES and CERT Volnteers
Works good, I am glad that they make a Clam Shell for the KG805g, Fopr those who Volunteer for ARES and CERT Volunteer Groups thankful it uses AA batteries and not AAA batteries!
Great Accessory
Good thing to have for backup in times where charging the lithium batteries may not be practical. I used a dental pick to pry off the tab on top since my nail couldn't get back there. The tab has an arrow on it if you look closely. After batteries installed, the radio read 7.7 volts. With high capacity battery installed it read 8 volts.
