Software for programming the database works awesome, but couldn't get the Driver to work for me. (Using the most current operating system.) That was the whole purpose of getting it to begin with. Instruction were complicated too. So, I'm back where I started.
I have an Apple MacBook Pro that I run Parallels Desktop with a Virtual Machine of Windows 10. I was a expecting issues with the USB driver and such in order to install and use the software. Before I received my order I downloaded the application from the Best Two Way Radio website. Long story short... I had not issues! Up and running in minutes once my radio was delivered.
Used it to program my new radio. It was a breeze
Easy to use, makes programming very simple.
I was not having success adding repeater info into my new Wouxin until I purchased this software. It worked on my Win7 PC right out of the gate. No problems.
Buying a programming cable is hard, everyone sells them but only one actually works. This one was advertised to work by a company that works very hard to make sure their products work. The cable has to do more than just fit into the radio and this one did.
The software presents settings in a spreadsheet array, but doesn't explain options. There is no explanation of how to set up duplex instead of simplex. Finally figured out that the only way to do it was to manually calculate frequency offsets and type them in.
Great radio and great service from Two Way Radio.
I work with different public agencies, this software helps me add or delete as needed
Great little package.
Driver loaded perfectly.
With a market with so many choices it boils down to what do we get for our buck? and this product delivers on that promise. Programming these new Chinese SDR's by hand can be very frustrating. I keep my Wouxun software at the ready and make frequent on the fly changes without having to restart the radio whilst pressing (yet) another button and so on - it's fast and works. Pity about the inability to export/import even the main channels to some sort of text file.
I was told by several, "Easier with a computer" One day I loaded the cd and the program excel sheet popped up. I copied all the local repeaters in my area on it and in about 10 seconds they were loaded into my radio. Each repeater had its own number and all I had to do was print the excel sheet to place on my shack wall. If I wanted to use repeater in (Smithville) I just turn the selector to #6 and the Freq, offset and tone are all set up. Watching Youtube is a great help on this
Whether it is the Wouxun radio's I have or the cable or software, I am unable to program the radios. I have tried several computers from XP to Windows 10. I contacted Wouxun directly numerous times they offered very little help. I have given up & now manually program the radios.
This property works on both the baofeng and the wouxun. Highly recommend this product
I use it to program my 950P. It uses a faux speadsheet that doesn't allow coping and pasting of a whole line of data. You can't copy to it from a real speadsheet.
Not the easiest program to get around. I hear that Chirp is better, but I have not gone that far with it yet.
I ordered this as part of a package radio/software/cable deal. Software works great. My first time self programming a radio and it took about 30 minutes from software install on my PC, to programming done. UI very clean (albeit kinda bland/generic) and easy to navigate. Would recommend using the radio's paper manual side by side with software if you are a first timer. Only issue was figuring out how to locate the freq's and PL's online but once those were found it worked great.
This make programing a breeze. I'm new to ham radio and in my 50's - Trying to figure out how to program a radio manually is time consuming! Don't forget to get a cable!
Works as described, Easy to use.
could not be better .
