It has 3000 channels, priority channel scanning, has a two-color LED, built-in CTCSS/DCS, channel scan, priority scan and a DTMF keypad with full access to a menu full of exciting features. The MD-UV380 Plus operates on 400-480MHz UHF frequencies and 136-174MHz VHF frequencies at up to 5 watts of power. It uses Time-Division Multiple-Access (TDMA) digital technology and is compatible with MOTO TRBO series Tier I and II using standard encryption. The MD-UV380 Plus also operates in analog mode so you can make the migration to digital as you need.
High Capacity 2000mAh Battery - The included 2000 mAh 7.2V Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery pack is a free upgrade from the 1750mAh battery usually provided with the MD-380. Additional battery packs are also available for purchase.

MD380U DMR Starter Kit
The MD380U MDR starter kit enables you to use the MD380U as a no battery Mobil with external antenna as well as an HT. I even use mine as a base with my dual Band Base Antenna. Unit has very clear non mechanical audio on DMR and functions well as an analog HT. Just find some local DMR friends or go to yahoo groups for a good code plug for your area and talk away. Software is easy to use.

DMR start up kit.
I am really excited about my DMR start up kit, It had everything I needed to get into DMR and the price was right.
Mostly good and useful items
Great radio. Prefer to use ground plane mag mount than window mount, though window mount would be useful for a temporary rental vehicle, Holster way too tight - unable to use dials as easily as they should be used, and unable to change antennas without unsnapping the top of holster.Would return the holster if it weren't for the 15% restocking fee.

After a bad experience with an online auction service, and not wanting to give up on digital ham radio, I took the advice of a friend and purchased the DMR starter package from buytworadios.com. The package contained several very usable accessories that compliment the TYT MD 380 radio. The radio speaks for itself. It is a, solid, rugged unit that I have used as both an HT and a mobile radio… very versatile… small but powerful.
