The MD-UV380 takes the two band UHF and VHF digital functionality of the MD-2017 and puts it in the classic MD-380 shell to create an all new digital handheld transceiver for use anytime, anywhere!
Like the MD-2017, the TYT MD-UV380 Plus operates in analog and digital modes on 400-480MHz frequencies on UHF and 136-174MHz VHF at up to 5 watts of power. It uses Time-Division Multiple-Access (TDMA) digital technology to double the number of users on a single 12.5kHz channel.
The TYT MD-UV380 Plus is also equipped with the same large color LCD display found on the classic TYT MD-380, and boasts the same styling and dimensions. Like the MD-380, it also has a DTMF keypad and programmable side keys. In fact, it looks and feels like the original MD-380, with both UHF and VHF bands for double DMR excitement!
The MD UV380 Plus boasts 3000 channels, built-in CTCSS/DCS (analog mode only), single call, group call and all call, remote kill/stun/activate, transmit interrupt, VOX, and lone worker function. It is MOTOTRBO™ compatible, DMR Tier I and II compatible, and is firmware upgradeable.
The TYT MD-UV380 Plus is also rated IP54 for protection against mild ingress of dust and water.
The Tytera MD-UV380 Plus dual band digital radio uses Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Tier 2 Standard protocol. It is compatible with the popular MOTO TRBO series Tier I and II using standard encryption, and supports AES 256 encryption as well. It is also compatible with any existing analog two-way radio operating on the supported UHF and VHF frequencies for easy migration to digital technology.
Includes one TYT MD-UV380 Plus dual band digital mobile two way radio, dual band antenna, belt clip, AC charger, 2000mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery, owner's manual and one year manufacturer warranty.

Great Radio
Out of the box radio looks well constructed. Software was easy to load. CPS has alot of great improvements over the standard MD-380 UHF. Great to be able to monitor both DMR and analog on both bands.
Not good
I have been a ham for over 60 years and never have I had as hard a time getting a new radio to run as I have this one. My brother and I are both advanced extra class and we have worked days trying to get this radio to work and so far no joy. Also the box is mislabeled. I thought I had the gps version as the box clearly indicates. However I do not have a gps and I will spend tomorrow again trying to figure it out. The support group hasn’t been helpful.

Solid radio, crystal clear digital audio. programmable side buttons. love being able to switch between dmr and analog. Box was labeled exactly what I ordered. manaul says GPS optional assuming because its the same manual for both gps and non gps versions.

Well Built at a Great Price.....
Took me a week to learn the DMR Programming....Fiunally got 86,000 "Contacts" int it...Have it set up for Brandmeister and TGIF Groups....Also Analog is set as one "Zone"....Steep learning Curve...However it was worth learning this....and what a GREAT Radio to learn DMR ! ! Now to get a second one for my wife....

Great 2nd generation of original
MD-380, UHF only, circa 2016, was good, this MD-UV380 is really similar, but includes VHF, and dual "transceivers/VFO", 1 TX at a time of course. CPS v01.12 is best to use, although the Buy 2 way radios download also works. Solid construction. Same battery and charger as original.

This radio has been great.
It took a week to get to my by USPS suppose to be 3 days but when it did arrive progamming was daily easy.
