Auto channel change will update all radios in your party to a new channel to help reduce interference. Direct call allows you to communicate privately with one specific member of your group.
The Uniden GMR3689-2CK supports all 22 FRS/GMRS channels with 285 privacy settings (142 Privacy Tones + 143 Group Codes). It also supports NOAA weather channels, meaning you can be alerted if severe weather is entering your area. The GMR3689 also features caller ID, a backlit display, missed call indicator, channel scan feature, and silent mode.
To take advantage of the auto channel change and direct call features, all members of your party must have Uniden radios that support these features.

GOOD BEACH DAY
Got this to use on the beach with a waverunner and when my family went for a stroll down the beach works great as long as you wife brings it with her
very good
if it will have a longer range in the mountains it will be perfect
great two way for the price
this is a great little two way for a active family use. like the article said about 2 miles in the heavy urban areas. but transmit way further (up to 10 mi.) in open terrain areas. such as river canoe trip last spring the auto channel select is a great venture because wife is not techno savy as i am. so when we switch channels I'll know she'll be there too. another is when an earthquake knock out our power, telephone, and cell phone. this two way was our back up comm and it did great job in town until power and comm. was restore the following day. we are also avid campers and backpackers. and often we go with groups with kids. this is a must have for the kids safety who like wander around during base camp.
