great speaker mic
great product, once it arrived the quality is really great, it feels solid, looks just like an emergency services speaker mic the audio quality is excellent, for the price you cant beat this speaker mic
Disapointed
We are a manufacturing facility and have bought 19 radios for our staff. We cannot transmit everywhere in the facility and out buildings. Antennas continually fall off, and microphone clips break easily. We have added a repeater, longer antenna for the repeater just trying to extend out signal with little to no luck.
Not as good as the original...
These mics are OK for gentle use, but they are a little quieter and not as durable as the original KMC-17s. The cable is thinner and less durable, leading to broken wires and inoperability.
Excellent Mic
This speaker mic is excellent! I ordered 2. 1 for a friend We utilize them while patrolling a local campground. They work great, and the cord was the perfect length for how we wear them on our person Delivery was great. There wasn't a scheduled delivery date according to the tracking #, so I can't comment on promptness of delivery Customer service was great, even before I received my order I had originally chosen UPS as my Shipping Method. However, I did find out later UPS was $13-$15 extra, and it was already prepared to ship via Postal Service. Rob had called and left a message regarding the extra cost, and asking how I'd like to proceed. Unfortunately the #, was wrong, so I didn't get the message A quick support chat session cleared up everything, and within 2 hours after exiting the chat session, I received the email saying my order had been shipped

Audio through speaker mic sounds like a cheap c.b. mic. Little or no fidelity Heavy duty cord. Mic not conducive to typical amateur radio use.
Majority Perform - 2 out of 10 have failed
We have 20 radios and had to replece 4 mics over the past 2 years...the side activation button seems to be what fails too frequently.
Great mic
Super sturdy, great sound and well built. Quality is outstanding and I can lock the keyboard on my HT and use the device with ease with this mic. A must have for your KG-805G
Sturdy
I use this while doing forestry work and it works great. It's pretty much identical in construction to the Commountain brand speaker microphones (now discontinued). The XLT's sound quality is clear, the talk button isn't chintzy, and the clip is strong and can be click-locked in any direction you want. Both wire ends are reinforced with rubber so there's no worry of fraying with rough use. I would buy this again if I needed to set up another radio for the team.
