The olympia R500 works great I'm lmpressed it works better than a Motorola it receives quite well, as far as static, all you have to do is use the tone tone/codes,problem solved,I don't use the battery pack , instead I use double A nickel metal hydride rechargeable batteries 1.2 volts 2300 mah make you get a charger also, it gives me alot of talk time the charge lasts for days,I'm very impressed, works quite well on,frs also I don't know if it works on repeaters they're too far away I can barely get on repeaters with my commercial radio my Call sign is,wrbp701.
I bought these radios and I do not recommend them, I have years using GMRS Radios and these in particular failed from the first use, at a height of 200 feet line of sight it was no longer possible to communicate with people who were down, no other radio Gave me this problem before, its capacity is supposedly 42 miles line of sight, but only 200 feet high did not work.
