Description / Wouxun KG-D901 DMR Digital Two Way Radio
The KG D901 has 64 zones and 16 channels per zone, for a total of 1024 channels. It has CTCSS/DCS, digital encryption, scan channel scan, group scan and text messaging. It features VOX functonality, English voice prompts, a full DTMF keypad and three programmable multi-function side keys.
Of course, The KG-D901 is also equipped with Wouxun's popular and iconic full color LCD display. This large, 1.8 inch screen offers maximum visual clarity for the display of menus, graphics and text messages with a professional look and feel.
The KG-D901 is easy to accessorize. It uses the same SMA female antenna connector, same Kenwood 2-pin (K1) connector and same serial to USB programming cable used by many other Wouxun radios. If you have another Wouxun, chances are your headsets, earbuds, speaker mics and other audio accessories will work with the D901 as well.
The Wouxun KG-D901 digital radio uses Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Tier 2 Standard protocol. It is compatible with the popular MOTO TRBO series Tier I and II using standard encryption, as well as other makes and models of DMR supported radios. It is also compatible with any existing analog two-way radio operating on the supported UHF frequencies for easy migration to digital technology.
Includes one Wouxun KG-D901 UHF digital DMR/analog two way radio, antenna, belt clip, AC charger, 2000mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery, owner's manual and one year manufacturer warranty.

Two little quirks:
1) When sending or receiving SMS, it runs all the words together with no spaces between even if you put 2 spaces between the words. My work around is to use period (.) between words.
2) When you are in a menu, or typing an SMS, if somebody somewhere kerchunks the repeater or keys up at all, it will dump you out of the menu and you lose what you were doing.
I now own a MD-380, a GD77 and the Wouxun for DMR...though the Wouxun has no bells and whistles, I am still very fond of it. It fits the hand nicely and feels solid.
Now if Wouxun would get rid of the ability to record conversations and use that memory for say the User DB, it would be a hit. But even so, the user db is not critical. I still love this little radio.
I gave it 4 stars because of the quirks, but its a very nice radio and yes I would recommend it.
