The KG UVN1 has 3072 channels, 250 zones, and a whopping 160,000 contacts. The full radioid.net contact database is preloaded onto the radio. It has CTCSS/DCS, digital encryption, channel scan, group scan and text messaging. It features VOX functonality, a full DTMF keypad and programmable multi-function side keys.

The KG-UVN1 is a full featured radio with high end functionality, such as independent programming in VFO and channel modes, Private Call, Group Call, All Call, ARTS function, tail elimination, menu encryption, menu hide, lone worker, and stun/kill/activate options. It has a solid, rugged construction that puts it in the same league for durability as many business class radios.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Wouxun without their legendary full color LCD display, and the KG-UVN1 has it. The large, bright screen of the KG-UVN1 offers maximum visual clarity for the display of menus, graphics and text messages, and two frequency bands with the look and feel of a high end, professional two way radio.

The KG-UVN1 is easy to accessorize. It uses a common SMA Male antenna connector, and the same Kenwood 2-pin (K1) connector used by many other Wouxun radios. If you have another Wouxun, chances are good your headsets, earbuds, speaker mics and other audio accessories will work with the UVN1 as well.

The Wouxun KG-UVN1 is compatible with other makes and models of DMR supported radios. It is Tier I & II compatible. It is also compatible with any existing analog two-way radio operating on the supported UHF and VHF frequencies on the Amateur Radio bands.

Includes one Wouxun KG-UVN1 Dual Band UHF/VHF digital DMR/analog two way radio, antenna, belt clip, AC charger, 2600mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery, wrist strap, owner's manual and one year manufacturer warranty.

Note

This radio is limited to operation on frequencies within the 2 meter and 70cm amateur radio bands as required by the FCC.

Wouxun is producing this radio with two different firmware versions: one with support for 160,000 contacts, and the other with support for 8 hours of recording. We are shipping the 160,000 contact version. As such, it does not include the 8 hour recording function in order to accommodate the additional contacts.

Disassembly, hardware or software hacks may damage your radio or render it inoperable and will void the manufacturer warranty. Customers who attempt to modify, hack, reverse engineer or otherwise attempt to alter the Wouxun KG-UVN1 radio from its original specifications with the use of hardware or software hacks do so at their own risk.

Solidly Made HT, Still Learning The Programming review by AB4BF on 11/19/2022

This is my fourth Wouxun HT and I like them for the audio and clear transmit properties. I'm still learning the programming. There isn't much out there for a tutorial, but, its just another challenge.

New to DMR. Fortunately I have a friend who is one of the country's experts on DMR. Could not have programmed it without him, even after studying for many hours before giving him a call. Really need a tutorial on the software, so minus one star.

For operating thru a repeater, if you are using two radios to hear yourself, they need to be at least 20 feet apart, unlike analog.

For group numbers just place the group number in the contact ID and be sure to add group contact to receiver group list, otherwise you won't receive the group.

Add your contact to your channel creation. Be sure to select Digital or Analog first thing and uncheck all the boxes on the upper half of the screen, especially RX only.

You have to have repeater frequencies, color code and time slot for the group.

That should get you started.

excellent radio & programming software / hardware.no real problems with programming the radio but the dmr is new to me & i'm having to take my time to get it done properly.very happy with this radio & would buy another one down the road if the radio still is available.the radio has the feel & look of a public safety type radio which can be used for a security radio when working security as well as when you do neighborhood watch programs in your neighborhood.wouxon radios are a great radio for the money wouxon needs to make a radio that can get all of the bands even the public safety bands such as the 700mhz to 900mhz.even the higher bands that are ham bands in the 1000mhz n up.
love everything about this radio but the manual needs to be more detailed on how to program dmr frequencies n contacts because the dmr is very complicated to figure out.

A very solid radio, but the software is poorly executed. The database manipulation (when bringing up Contacts) is super slow. You cannot edit contacts. No automatic offsets. CHIRP'does not support this radio and thus there are no codeplugs available to copy.
