If you need more range than standard radio-to-radio communication can provide, a repeater is the right solution. Repeaters listen for communications on one frequency and then immediately re-broadcast the transmission on a different frequency, usually at a significantly higher power. Repeaters are usually attached to antennas that are centrally located and in a high location at a site in order to provide the best coverage.
For a radio to be repeater capable, it must support having different transmit and receive frequencies for the same channel. Frequencies used for repeater communications are typically not standard built-in frequencies, so repeater capable radios are usually "fully programmable" - which means a dealer can program custom frequencies into the radio. When you purchase a repeater capable radio, be sure to let us know your frequencies when you place your order. You can call or fax us the frequencies, or just type them into the "comments" field when you place an online order. Be sure to provide us with your phone number, as occasionally we may need to contact you for additional information.
