The Wouxun KG-826B is built with a superheterodyne receiver for reliable communication on the job. It features a lighted dual channel LCD display, English voice prompts, VOX and low battery alert. It has a programmable side key and configurable front key for quick and convenient access to select functions. It also has a built-in flashlight and a stopwatch timer.
The KG-826B is IP55 dust and water resistant for use in most indoor and outdoor business operations. The 1700mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack provides many hours of operation on a single charge and can be recharged quickly using the smart drop-in desktop charger.

2 days on the hill with the 826b
8-10 hour days, radio on full time.
Battery gets to maybe 70% (30% discharge) by end of day. Yesterday I was on the radio and probably had maybe 2 hours total of TX for the day.
Stock antenna works surprisingly we across the vhf and UHF spectrum, including ham. Only antenna that beat it was a tuned and matched helical mono band (155mhz center) at 12" long.
Audio is just fine. It could be louder, and a bigger or more robust speaker, but it outperforms some of my $300 vhf commercial stuff.
Programming is simple with the software. Nothing new to learn, it's very well laid out.
I know it's a compliant commercial radio, I wish there was a way to select wide or narrowband (but I'm guessing the chip is set and adjusted for narrow)
She feels light, and slightly plastic, but for me that's not a bad thing. For what the mountain needs I think she'll be a winner. Only downside is I wish it had a slightly higher waterproofing rating, as Thursday we were in a steady rain, and I don't know if the radio would've survived that. Even my ht1000 and my vertex VHF had some issues with water logging.
Overall, for a sub $200 radio, she is a real treat.
I am very please and incredibly surprised how well this radio does, and it's fantastic! I will be ordering up the accy for the radio, and present to the mountain this week.
Also, the antenna... Hooked it up to an analyzer I have modified to be a bit more accurate reading HT antennas. Nice curves for the swr, I'm surprised the swr stays below 2.5:1 from 146-160mhz and 448-460. And it's stable beyond that with the extreme ends being 3:1 and fully usable at all power.
I will also be ordering up some antennas as well.

So far I have purchased tow of these from Buy Twoway Radios. I'm placing an order for another one as soon as I finish this review.
The KG 826B is built on the same platform as the KG-UV6D. I've had my UV6d for a number of years now and it keeps on ticking. I found that the programming for the UV6D works for the 826B as well so the programming is cross compatible. This makes things very convenient.
the 826B is a hearty solid radio and I expect it will last as long as my UV6D (which I've owned since they first were sold).
