The KG-UV8D-PLUS has all the features you love about the classic 8D, such as 999 programmable memory channels, dual band UHF/VHF operation, DTMF encode/decode, selectable power options, 76-108Mhz FM radio, SOS function, VOX (Voice Operated Transmit) for hands-free operation, built-in flashlight, and even the original stopwatch!
It also has the large, iconic LCD display of the original UV8D, with bold color and sharp graphics. Of course, duplex cross-band repeat functionality is in there too, as well as true dual receive. Yes, the KG-UV8D Plus lets you receive two signals at the same time on both A and B bands!
But now, there's even more. Wouxun added a few nice upgrades to the KG-UV8D Plus, such as adjustable LCD backlight intensity, the ability to store and retrieve up to 20 sets of frequencies in the FM radio, and the power to edit the Power-On message as you need. Plus, it has some new features, including a voice compander, scrambler, and non-standard CTCSS/DCS.

Use of third party software to extend the frequency range past the posted specs of the KG-UV8D PLUS may damage the radio or render it inoperable. This procedure is not recommended and may void the manufacturer warranty. Wouxun has stated that they do not recommend or support the use of such "frequency adjust" software. Good, inexpensive radio
I bought this radio to replace a Baofeng that I lost. The quality of the build and the ease of programming is far greater then the Baofeng products. While it's not on the caliber of a Yaesu or Kenwood, it is a great little radio for the price

I not only would buy this radio again. I did.
I'm a ham and a member of ARES. I run the communications for our 1000 home community, with 50 frs/gmrs radios through out the neighborhood. In an emergency situation I provide communication to the ARES and County Emergency Management. These radio's cover all the frequencies needed to communicate from FRS/GMRS to Ham vhf/uhf and to monitor other emergency frequencies. Great price for what it does. I also have 4 ea 2600mah batteries.

I love my new Wouxun KG-UV8D Plus Dual Band Amateur Radio w/ 2600 mAh Battery - not so much the programming software that come with it, though. The radio is fantastic including the quality of the hardware, the ease of use and the higher capacity battery. On the other hand, the included software leaves a lot to be desired in so many ways. I hated to have to buy the RT Systems software, but the $50 expense was well worth it considering the terrific value of this radio.

Received the radio ahead of time. At first they sent me a refurbished one but after contacting Buy Two Way Radio, it was solved quickly and they sent me a brand new replacement. The receive and transmit quality are great. Great radio for the price.

Been using the 8D+ for two weeks. So far, it works well. Programming manually was easy. Perfect for my needs..an inexpensive radio that performs, and can be left in my kit bag.

I would definitely program it with chirp. Definitely solid, good volume and sound quality. Better than the major competitors. I’ve recommended them to other Hams.
