The KG-S74A is equipped with a backlit LCD display and a backlit keypad for night time operation. It features 400 memory channels, NOAA weather channels and weather alerts with up to 5 weather alert notification. it supports 118-137 MHz AM frequencies for wide coverage across the airband. It features 2 programmable side keys, and programmable top key and a built-in flashlight.
The KG-S74A also features channel scan, priority channel scanning, monitor function, VOX for hands-free operation and battery save to maximize battery power while in-flight. It's equipped with a built-in USB-C port for fast and easy charging on the go. The large capacity 2000mAh Lithium-ion battery pack provides up to 26 hours of battery life. Good radio for the price
This radio picks up distant aircraft, even with the stock antenna. Reception is very crisp and clear, and this includes the weather band. On the minus side, the scanning is fair. I tend to monitor just one frequency at a time. Conclusion: I like this radio, and it's a keeper. However, the old saying "you get what you pay for" does apply a little to the KG-S74A.
Nice radio
I’m pretty happy with the radio so far for the money. Nicely done Wouxun! However, I can’t get the software to work on any of my windows 11 computers to include in compatibility modes. Since the radio is so new there just isn’t any good info out on the internets about workarounds or other software options. Very disappointing.

I have 2 other VHF hand-held airband tranceivers.
This unit is surprisingly well made. Smaller than I thought for 6w. I have tested recently. Clear with for 6w line of sight usage
Literally fits in your pocket. A larger pocket anyway.
I have other Wouxun gmrs radios. Similar user interface.
Sorting of channels is a bit challenging. But I'm an old fart.
Have not tested included headphone mic jack connector/adapter. Will do test in future.
But overall. Comparing features with other HT's on the market. Good value.
And USB type c is awesome.

Nice HT
This HT seems to work like it was designed to work. I hear mostly noise. The weather comes in good so I guess if a plane is close enough, it would come in good.

Nice radio with excellent transmission capability. Bought it for backup to panel mounted unit. Reception clear, the radio have a lot of options and it is customizable to suit your needs.
Tiny But Mighty
This is a fantastic little radio at a good price. My primary use is to be able to listen in on CFAF's, Unicom's, and Multicom for sUAS operations, as it is an important safety concern to be apprized of manned operations IVO unmanned operations. Additionally, in an emergency there is the means to communicate with manned aviation for purposes of crash avoidance. The radio is easy to use, USB C chargeable, and pleasantly small to carry. I have it in a Condor pouch sized for an FRS radio and it fits perfect. My only gripe is that the USB C port cover is rigid and secured with a screw (part of the IP rating), therefore the over has to be unscrewed and removed to USB C charge or program, then replaced - slightly inconvenient and carries the risk of losing the cover and screw! Other than that, superb product - what I expect from Wouxun.
Good Power, pretty good sound
These used to come with cables that go from the K1 to an aviation headset. That is no longer the case & the aftermarket ones that I have tried have all had problems. Transmit power on this radio is about twice that of an Icom A-16. Sounds quality is pretty good, but not great. You need a screw driver to take off a cover if you want to use the USB charge port, which defeats the water proof rating. General construction quality seems pretty robust. Reception sensitivity is good. I was slow to warm up to the buttons for squelch & selector knob for channels, but now I'm good with the layout. It's good value for money. It's a keeper.
Great Little Radio
It's a great little radio. The carrier measures stronger than some of the better known brands. The headset adapter cable that came with it works with all the headsets I have. A previous radio I bought did not come with that cable & the aftermarket cables all had problems of various types. Tech support from this site got me up & running with the programming software. I needed to download a driver. Thank you for the help Dave.
