TYT Correcting Production Problems with MD-2017 Programming Cable

With our first batch of TYT MD-2017 radios, we had a few customers call complaining of issues programming the radio. After some back and forth, we identified the issue as being a poor solder within the radio connector on the programming cable. Customers with this issue were not able read their radios from the programming software.

TYT has confirmed the issue, and are immediately working to correct the problem. We are told that all of our future shipments will have the updated cable, so if you order a radio or a cable from this point forward you won't have to worry about this issue.

This issue affected a very small number of customers (less than 3%), so we appreciate TYT's willingness to make the fix a priority.

    I bought a Radio TYT MD 2017, it was working fine and suddenly I stop working the keyboard buttons, the menu key, the side key 1, the side key 2, the side key 3, the P1 key, the key P2, the Back key and the top orange key, I request technical support to restore the original configuration of the TYT MD 2017 radio.

    I just got a MD-2017 from a friend to program. I turned on the radio and had a display of info turn off the radio and charged the battery and turned on radio and had a blank screen. tried to load software but when plug the usb connector into computer it caused the computer to shut down.

    Hi Rick, I am also having the same problem as Tom with the MD 2017 display. Turned on the radio tonight and nothing but a blank screen although mine is white as I have the screen set as always on. I am using CPSv1.21 and firmware v4.03. Is there anything I can do to correct this? BTW, the radio works except for the display issue.

    MD2017 Issue. Order # 3086265
    Got my new radio today. Initially it powered up and there was a display. Now there is just a blank screen. Tried updating the firmware and this did not change the problem. Stll blank nothing displayed except a blank blue screen.
    Any ideas?

    TYT is posting on facebook a modification of the antenna connector that involves a new part. It is unclear if TYT is recommending we do the "repair" ourselves, getting the part from you, or sending the radio to you to make the mod for those of us worried about losing the waterproofing or otherwise screwing up the radio. Can you clarify; TYT does not use the most clear English sometimes.

    Hi Trevor, although we have heard a rumour or two, we've only received one comment so far about a possible issue with the antenna connector on the MD-2017, however we have yet to determine if it was due to a manufacturer defect or from overhandling. We are monitoring this and will continue to work with TYT to resolve such issues as they arise.

    Hi Guys,
    I bought a TYT 2017 from you and I am only going to get to it when I return home next month.
    I have however been seeing reports of a weak antenna connector, have you guys had any reports from your clients as I am wondering if this is happening a lot.

    now i know it wasnt me why I cannot program the radio !
