Announcing the TYT MD-UV380 Dual Band DMR Radio

TYT MD-UV380
We received an announcement from TYT last night that a new DMR radio will be coming soon. We haven't received a lot of details, but it looks to be a refreshed MD-380 that is dual band (UHF/VHF). Click here to view a brochure with specifications.

Nothing is set in stone at this time, but TYT is targeting April, 2018 to begin production with a retail price of around $149.

We were told that a sample would be shipped to us next week, so stay tuned for updates and more details! If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below! We'll pass your questions along to TYT and answer them in our next update.

Update May 17, 2018 - List price is $129 for the non-GPS model. A GPS model will be released later for $139.

Update May 29, 2018 - The TYT MD-UV380 is here! It's now in stock and available in limited quantity from Buy Two Way Radios.

We are located in the US, so our testing is limited to repeaters in our area at this time.

Will these work in the UK on the repeaters, or is that an unknown factor as yet. I only ask as tier II radios in the past have been hit and miss, and $149 is not a drop in the ocean to spend on a paperweight.

Hope it's better than the MD-2017 !! That model has been fraught with problems. TYT should discontinue the MD-2017 and stick with a model that has been proven...the MD380

Yori, I suppose "FUN" stands for "Function" as in "Function key" Not the best choice for an abbreviation, but hey, it is their radio...

Hello. Interested in the following questions. This radio station will use the superheterodyne receiver as md380 or will it be on a direct conversion? Will there be an amplified battery? A longer antenna? Thank you.....

How can we type an sms or contact names with that nonsensical keyboard?
TYT needs to change that asap. What is "FUN"? Is it a radio or a gameboy?
    Guys, please be serious.
PTT button looks like attached external button, again. They are pressed regularly when you put your radio on your belt with other tools/pouches and coworkers call you to say stop pressing that ptt button. Designers, please make ptt button stayed inwards of the radio.

Hi Eric, for the moment the only information we have is what was made available to us from TYT. We'll have more details on this new radio when we receive our sample, which should arrive in about a week.

I am wondering if the current MD 380 tools will work with this radio? How many contacts can be loaded from the data base with this radio? Is it more like the md 380 than the 2017?

    Thanks,

    Eric
