There are several reasons why it may fail to connect, usually due to COM port connectivity. The good news is that we support the the KG-805 purchased from us. Give us a call at 1-800-584-1445 weekdays and we will be happy to troubleshoot the issue.

Trying to connect KG-805G to Programming Software. Windows 10. Installed driver and software. Installed PCO-001. Selected Com Port. Device Manager says the cable is working properly. Keep getting “Failure to Connect”,

Just discovered that you are limited in using this as a scanner. Can't program anything outside of 400-470 MHz range. Guess I will still use my Btech GMRS-V1 for that purpose.

As stated on the product page and in the manual, the KG-805G can receive on frequencies between 400-470MHz. It is a GMRS radio and is not intended for use as a general scanner. However the KG-935G does have the capability to receive on dual bands.

It's really unfortunate that there's only a Windows solution to programming the 805g.

Chirp support would really add value to this product.

The lack of the ability to copy one of the existing channels to a new memory location and modify the new location for setting TX/RX PL codes from within the radio is a catastrophic shortcoming for this radio. It seriously limits the 805g's usefulness.

Understood. We've reached out to the CHIRP dev team about supporting the KG-805G in the past. CHIRP was initially created for hams, so I think their primary focus is on supporting radios on the ham bands, although there are at least two GMRS and one MURS on their list of supported radios. Whether they decide to support the 805 series or not is really their call.

McAfee also flags the Wouxun Programming Software (kg_805_v2_01_setup.exe) as a malicious file and quarantines it on my PC. I have to turn off Real-Time Scanning in McAfee to install and run the app, and this makes me very uncomfortable as it's a security risk. Wouxun/buytwowayradios.com needs to have this app signed and recognized as trusted by Windows.

tried using the cable that works with my uv5r's - failed communication.
it tries, some lights flash on the radio & a bar code starts to move in the software then it craps out.
I would order another cable if I knew it would fix the issue
