With the Wouxun KG-805F FRS Two Way Radio, you can!
The KG-805F has the features and ease of use that are available in common lower quality FRS two-packs, but with a rugged, business quality build. It has all 22 FRS channels, 155 CTCSS and DCS privacy tones and codes, channel scan, and adjustable squelch. CTCSS and DCS tones can be set separately for transmit and receive.
The KG-805F is built to the standards of expensive commercial radios, both in durability and audio quality. This isn't a little kid's walkie talkie (although anyone can use it). The KG-805F packs up to a full 2 watts of transmit power, the legal limit for FRS!
Wouxun has built in a backlit LCD display with three color options. Backlight colors can be customized based on transmit, receive or standby. The front panel keys are also backlit and voice prompts assist you with menu navigation.
Want more features? There's 76-108Mhz FM radio built right in. Plus it has transmit overtime alarm, low voltage prompt, channel name edit and display, and VOX (Voice Operated Transmit) for hands-free operation.
And did we say it was rugged? The 805F is rated IP55 dust and water resistant, a plus when taking it with you outdoors.
The KG 805F is powered by a 7.4v 1700mAh (12.58Wh) Li-Ion battery pack for many hours of operation. Power Saver Mode helps increase efficiency and preserve battery life. Need more power? an optional 2600mAh high capacity battery pack is also available for even greater uptime. Plus, there other power options.
As for accessories, the KG-805F has a plethora of them. As part of the Wouxun 805 Series it's compatible with other accessories for many other Wouxun radios, including the KG-805G, KG-805M, KG-UV6D and KG-UVD1P. Wouxun KG-805F Series Questions and Answers
Yes. This radio is fully compatible with all 22 channel FRS, GMRS, or FRS/GMRS combo radios.
Single radio.
The Wouxun KG-805F (and all FRS radios) work great for either business or personal use. The FRS service was designed
with personal use in mind, but nothing prohibits business use. (In fact, many small businesses and organizations use FRS frequencies in their operations.)

While this radio is easy to use and is compatible with other FRS radios, it was designed with power users in mind. It is
more durable and has better audio quality than typical consumer radios - basically, it is built like a business radio.
It also has advanced features that would usually appeal more to "power users," such as more channels
and the ability to use PC programming software to customize them.
Yes, if you use the programming software (available from the Downloads tab). The KG-805F supports up to 128 channels, and with the software you can add new channels or even remove standard ones. The CTCSS/DCS tones can be customized for each channel and can be different for transmit and receive.
Extra channels are useful for many reasons. The KG-805F allows you to receive transmissions on any frequency in the 400-470 MHz range (although you can only transmit on the specific FRS frequencies). Channels can also be given friendly names instead of a simple number, and the default channel names can be customized.
A programming cable is required to customize the radio through the software. Check the Accessories tab above for options.

There are two versions of this radio, the KG-805F and the KG-805FS.
The difference is the length of the antenna. The KG-805F has a standard length antenna and the KG-805FS has a stubby antenna. Both versions cost the same, and have all the same features. The only difference is the length of the antenna.
No. The KG-805F uses the FRS service and is license-free for both business and personal use.
Lots of reasons! In short, we've been in the radio business for a long time (since 2002) and we do things the right way. Our staff is here to help
if you have a question or a problem. We stock these radios in our on-site warehouse, so if we tell you something will ship, then you can believe us.
Our competitors come and go, but many depend on distributors to ship for them and have no control over when your order leaves. We're an authorized
dealer for all of our brands, so you can be sure that your products will have their full warranty and not be counterfeit.

WOUXUN KG-805F
EXCELLENT RADIO, IDENTICAL AS THE KG-805G but simplex (no repeater operation)!!!
Nice companion to the KG-805G
Nice companion to the KG-805G for my (unlicensed) Grandson.
Great Performance and Functionality
I have been a ham radio operator for more than 50 years so I have experienced many poor products and good ones. This is definitely a performance product. Rugged and solidly built. The hardware is only as good as the software; both of these features come together seamlessly in this radio. The software driver for the cable uses the FTDI chip which is widely used in many software-defined and software-coded radios. I only experienced one glitch in the programming software: the print function does not work and in fact crashed the program. The work-around for this is to download the KG-UV6 Commander software, import your .tw file and print your programming.
A worthwhile investment for CERT use, double check the CTCSS codes though!
I was intrigued enough by this “professional grade” FRS radio to order one for my CERT kit, replacing and old Motorola FRS radio. The radio does have a very nice solid feel to it, with a dedicated channel and volume knobs with a sturdy metal chassis. The radio comes with a 7.4V 1700mAH Li-Ion battery pack and a desktop charger. When ordering, you have a choice of two antennas: the common short stubby one or a taller higher gain antenna for better performance (thats the one I ordered). Per FCC regulation, FRS radios have a fixed antenna so it was nice having a choice. I also ordered a AA battery pack as a backup, in case the CERT assignment runs long.
Unpacking the radio, it was straightforward to install the battery and get it charged up. Popped some rechargeable batteries into the AA battery pack and verified radio performance. The AA battery pack does state NOT to use rechargeable batteries, I suspect this is due to the lower voltage (1.2V) of rechargeables compared to 1.5V of alkaline batteries so range might be affected. I do prefer rechargeables to eliminate the risk of battery leakage.
All was going well until I tried to communicate with the 2008 Motorola EM1000 FRS radio that I keep in my CERT bag. I set the Motorola for channel 2/code 2. The Wuoxun does not use simplified code numbers, but lets you select the actual code frequency. So per the chart from the Wuoxun manual code 2 was 69.3 so that was what I selected. Imagine my disappointment when I couldn’t get the two radios to talk!
Google to the rescue! I found an article discussing how different radio manufacturers use different frequencies for the privacy codes even though they may still be labeled the same (i.e. Motorola Code 2 is different from Radio Shack Code 2). A chart in that article showed that Motorola Code 2 is 71.9 Hz which corresponds to Wuoxun CTCSS Code 3. A simple setting change and now the radios were happily communicating! Of course now I put a copy of those conversion charts in my phone for reference in the field.
Another plus for the Wuoxun is that it is compatible with accessories made for Kenwood and Baofeng ham radios, so I can share headsets and speaker microphones from my ham radio kit. It seems this will be a worthwhile upgrade to my CERT bag.

Wouxun KG-805F(S)
Solid little radio with a whole lot of tech in a small package!!
Quality transceiver, not ideal for what I seek.
Likes:
-Good battery life
-More sensitive receiver than sporting goods store FRS radios
-More configurable than above
-My first purchase had a problem with brief battery contact disconnections from the radio, and Buytwowayradios.com provided excellent replacement service.
Dislikes:
-While it can receive outside of the FRS/GMRS channels, and can scan through a subset of presets, one can't lock the interface during a scan. My use case for this radio is to scan a group's chosen FRS channel + 3 nearby frequencies (461.xxx), while mobile on a mountain bike trail. The problem is that any bump to a button or dial in use may end the scan, and I won't know it.
-Config backup and restore seems to require some supervision. Upon restoring my config to the replacement radio, it wasn't recieving the nearby non-FRS channels for reasons I need to dig deeper into.
-I wish the default battery charging was USB-C, not a specialty base which is chunky to travel with.
