Wouxun KG-935G Plus GMRS Radio
The KG-935G Plus transmits on all 15 high powered GMRS simplex channels, 8 low powered simplex channels and all 8 GMRS repeater channels at up to 5.5 watts of power, with no special programming needed. It has dual receive capability on both UHF and VHF bands, a built-in NOAA weather Mode with improved weather alerts, plus the ability to check for alerts in both standby and scan modes and 5 weather alert notifications!

The KG-935G Plus has 999 custom programmable channels with standard and non-standard CTCSS tones and DCS codes to eliminate unwanted interference. It also supports split tones and CTCSS/DCS tone scan! The KG-935G Plus makes it easy to find and configure tones and codes to match existing radios in your group.

Of course, there are the standard features found on the original KG-935G, such as Priority Channel Scan, Group Scan, channel and frequency modes, and VOX. All of the advanced features such as Busy Channel Lockout, three selectable power levels, selectable wide and narrow bandwidth, group call, all call, selective calling, English voice prompts, programmable function keys, an FM radio mode and a built-in stopwatch are all included with the KG-935G Plus. So what's new there? How about Favorite Channels, a customizable Area Message, improved text entry via the keypad and PF Key Quick Guide so you can view a list of all the active PF key assignments at a glance. Each of those is definitely a plus!

The KG-935G Plus also has a large, full color dual channel display that accommodate one or both A and B areas of the radio, as well as channel names, numbers or frequencies, plus incoming caller ID. It has four display color themes, plus 6 additional themes for even more customization, for a total of 10 themes!

In addition to the advanced display, the KG-935G Plus features a full DTMF backlit keypad, TX and RX LED indicators and two programmable side keys, plus a louder speaker, a brighter built-in flashlight and a new BRIGHT+ PF key option to quickly increase the active display brightness.

The durability of this radio is way beyond the typical consumer grade GMRS bubble pack. The KG 935G Plus is rated IP66 for dust and water protection, which means it can take most outdoor elements with ease! It has complete protection against contact with dust, and can take water projected from any direction in powerful jets from up to an 12.5mm nozzle. That's a lot of force. With that kind of protection from the elements, the KG-935G Plus is ready to take on your next adventure outdoors.

As for programmability, the KG-935G Plus introduces the Channel Wizard, a revolutionary feature that allows you to quickly program a simplex or repeater channel into the radio directly from the keypad with amazing ease! Of course, the KG-935G Plus is still fully PC programmable, if that is what you prefer. With an optional programming cable (PCO-001) and the Wouxun programming software available in the Downloads tab above, you can customize your KG-935G Plus according to your needs.

Will the KG-935G Plus work with my current FRS/GMRS radio?

Yes. This radio is fully compatible with all 22 channel FRS, GMRS, or FRS/GMRS combo radios.

Is this a single radio, or a two pack?

Two pack.

This radio is more expensive than other GMRS radios. Why?

While this radio is easy to use and is compatible with other FRS and GMRS radios, it was designed with power users in mind. It is more durable, is higher wattage, is equipped with a more powerful battery and has better audio quality than typical consumer radios. It is also IP66 dust and waterproof. Basically, it is built like a business radio. It also has advanced features that would usually appeal more to "power users," such as repeater support and the ability to use PC programming software to customize the channels list.

Can I add custom channels to the KG-935G Plus?

Yes, if you use the programming software (available from the Downloads tab). The KG-935G Plus supports up to 999 custom channels, and with the software you can add new channels or even remove standard ones. The CTCSS/DCS tones can be customized for each channel and can be different for transmit and receive.

Extra channels are useful for many reasons. If you access different repeaters that use the same frequency but different tones, it's more convenient to add each combination to its own channel instead of changing tones through the menu. Channels can also be given friendly names instead of a simple number, and the default channel names can be customized.

A programming cable is required to customize the radio through the software. Check the Accessories tab above for options.

Do I need to buy all new accessories for the KG-935G Plus, or is it compatible with the accessories for my current Wouxun radio?

The KG-935G Plus is designed for maximum cross-compatibility with other Wouxun branded GMRS radios. It uses the same battery and charger as the KG-905G, and KG-935G. There are multiple antenna options available. It also uses the same 2-pin Kenwood style (K1) audio connector found on many other radios, so headsets, speaker mics and other audio accessories are no problem at all. If you already have the KG-905G or original KG-935G and want to add the KG-935G Plus to your GMRS operations, you're all set for accessories.

Does the Wouxun KG-935G Plus require a license?

Yes. Even though this radio is fully compatible with license free FRS radios, it has several features that make it fall under the GMRS service and not FRS. Some of these features are: 5 watts of power (FRS limit is 2), removable antenna (FRS must be fixed), and repeater support (FRS doesn't support repeaters). Hope you liked my opening pun! I really haven’t had a chance to test the range but the radio’s are gorgeous and the clarity is great! I live in California so I have been listening to the weather channel, just for fun!!! I have been switching back and firth from the stock antenna to the abbree antenna and it does seem to bring in some clarity! So far I love it… bought my GMRS license and everything . Way able to listen in on some repeaters without much hassle. Yeah… I am stoked!!!

Getting use to the menu and operation took about a day of random use and so far very happy with the radio. Only downside I can find is I would like for the screen to be a little brighter when out in the sun but with easily fixed in the shade of my hand.

Very enthused about my radio purchase. Very fortunate I found this product and "Buy Two Way Radios" However, an issue with wall plug to chargers. Wall plug gets to 130 degrees Fahrenheit when measured by a infrared thermometer several charges ago. Now I have to use the battery itself by c-type. Little frustrating but doable. However again, I still let friends know the appreciation I have for "buy two way radios". Again, radios great. Chargers not so great

I am new to Wouxun and was very pleased with the build quality of these radios. Radio has long battery life and the sound is loud and clear. Actually was surprised by the clarity. Not a fan of the stiff channel knob however. But that’s a small complaint. LCD screen worked just fine in -20 degree temps. I used my old Baofeng programming cable on these radios and it worked great.
